Large Antique Chinese Export Famille Jaune, Yellow Porcelain Bowl With Gilt Work & Green and Blue Flying Dragons
Antique Chinese porcelain bowl in the Famille Jaune palette. The round bright yellow bowl was made for the export market (early 20th. C) and is intricately hand painted with rich, colourful enamels in a traditional design with green and blue clawed flying dragons (chasing their flaming pearls) placed in symmetrical positions around the inside and outside of the bowl. They are painted against a background of repeating red flames over a yellow glaze. Multiple intricate borders frame the scene respectfully. The dragons are outlined in gold which is a sign of a higher quality, earlier piece.
