Paul Ashack is a contemporary artist born and raised on the south side of Chicago. He began drawing at the early age of 4 and hasn’t stopped painting for 70 years. He graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago and then attended the American Academy of Art. He was 19 years old when he started working at the Tribune as an apprentice worked his way to an illustrator where he worked for 42 years, until retirement. Paul now works out of his studio in Willowbrook. His collection of work expresses his deep love for Chicago and all of it’s beauty. His medium is oil, watercolor, pen and ink, and sketch.
