Antique Floriform Sculptural Faience Jardinier & Pedestal, 19th Century - by the famous sculpturer, Jerome Massier Vallauris.
This is an old and very rare hand made piece in organic form, the top rim of the jardiniere formed as elegant petals of a flower. The hyperbolic graduated from gray to brown base with a delicate swirl and a substantial foot rim base.
Both pieces are hand decorated all around the bodies with colourful chrysanthemums in rich enamels and glazed. The interior of the jardiniere gradutated with turquoise/lime-green glaze.
Truely a masterpiece by Faience and a rare opportunity to acquire such.
Signed as follows: The bottom of the jardiniere is painted with the signature of Vallauris together with an impressed factory mark. The bottom of the pedestal has an impressed factory mark. Also, the pedestal is signed "Max" within the painting.
Good condition with expected fritting around pedestal top rim and some overall minor surface wear.
