Attributed to the Fujian Province of China, this antique altar table has seriously gorgeous openwork carving on skirt including dragons, scrolls, & auspicious bats. Relief carving on the legs -- vases with flowers.
This is a rare taller form. The apron area has elegant traditional Chinese scroll carvings with auspicious bats and dragons.
Colour varies from a darker brown to a lighter brown. Great patination.
No markings except remnants of a wax seal -- see photo detail.
Endless possibilities for use: Entry Console / Hallway table./ Serving table / Sideboard.
19th Century or possibly a little earlier.
Condition is good. Scattered honest replacements/repairs. Typical minor stains and imperfections. Adding up to the perfect level of destress and patination.
