Solid carved old rosewood coffee table constructed utilizing the age old and traditional mortise and tenon technique. Beautifully grained rosewood is apparent.
The shaped top is inset with gray, beige & white dream stone marble choosen for it's character. The apron is decorated with the Yu Hua Loong fish dragon motif - see below, and is supported by 4 cabriole legs (connected with a useful bottom shelf/stretcher) and ending in ball-and-claw feet.
Retains "Made in China" label on underside.

Condition is very good with some expected wear and signs of age to marble (see photo details).

Yu Hua Loong (鱼化龙)
This is an imaginary creature with half dragon (head) and half fish (body). In the ancient times, fish-transforming-dragon was an auspicious symbol, a metaphor for passing the all important imperial examinations. This was what most Chinese men aspired to all their lives back then.
