An outstanding example of 19th Century craftsmanship. Known as a "work" table, this exceptional piece has retained a high degree of originality. Made from solid walnut with dovetailed and chamfered drawer. The pleasing oval form is finished on all sides with recessed panels, the top panels with gadrooned embellishment. Supported on 4 wonderful reeded legs with spade feet. Has large storage compartment behind a hinged door and a small drawer on top. Likely American.
Today this can be used as a side table, end table, pedestal or as a handy storage cabinet.
No markings.
Condition is very original. No damage or repair and proudly retains surface distress from years of use.
