Good sized Chinese Yixing clay hotpot with it's cover and handles that depict dragon faces. A rare example with a sgraffito design on the top of the cover depicting a bird perched on a blossoming tree branch. Calligraphic characters are hand incised on the front and back and roughly translate about the appreciation of the seaasoning of dishes. Each handle has opening for bracket. Today these bowls or dishes can be used for: casseroles, soups, stews or even dry snacks such as niuts. No hallmarks. Age: Vintage. Condition is excellent. 5 1/4" tall x 9 1/2" handle-to-handle x 8 1/2" diameter at largest point of main body. 3.75 pounds.
