Eye-catching stylised Japanese Mashiko ceramic plate or low bowl. The charm of Mashiko ware lies in its simplicity. This particular glazed pale blue plate represents Japanese cherry blossoms on a sweeping brown branch. The back is khaki/tan with nuka glaze (a very old style of glazing in Ancient Japan), with pale blue drips near the edges. This unusual plate would be a fine addition to a collection of Japanese studio ceramics. Dimensions: Dia 12", H2.25".
*Stand for display only. Please contact us if this is required.

Mashiko ware history can be traced back to the Year 1853 when Keisaburo Otsuka built a kiln as a side business from his farmlands in Mashiko, Tochigi Prefecture.
