Early 20th Century Bamboo Wedding Chest hand painted with auspicious symbols, calligraphy. Nowadays these 'boxes' can be used for a variety of purposes such as storage and decoration. Originally these were used in China to carry food and sweets for celebrations in days gone by. This particular chest has a total of 2 tiers and a lid, a sturdy handle with a old cast metal handle on the top held in place by split pins. The basket is in it's original condition, has nice patination and is clean inside.

Wear consistent with age of the piece - joint shrinkage and some paint loss on the top. Overall very good.
