Antique Chinese Banded Elm and Fir Wood Rice Measure or Bucket from the Anhui Province, China. This beautiful piece is decorated with hand painted gold butterflies and moths interspersed with flowers, also in gold against a black background. The piece is banded wood Shanmu - Fir Wood, and Yumu - Northern Elm Wood, with metal bosses, signed on the underside - in calligraphy. Purchased in Hollywood Road, Hong Kong - the famous antique district of the city. See Certificate of Antiquity in the photograhs. Age Qing Dynasty 1870-90. Today this well cared for piece can be used as a planter, storage container or decorative piece for the home.
