Antique Chinese Black, Red and Gold Lacquer Low Coffee Table or Pedestal with Dragons and Bats
The low table has a waisted top, with a very intricately designed surface featuring an elaborate Buddhist central floral medallion within a meticulous border extending outwards to four points. Corner decorations, and intricate cross hatched sides. This is over a carved, lacquered, and gilt skirt with golden Greek key edging and incorporates some aspects of the Ming style.
Supported on cabriole legs with auspicious red bats and decorated stretchers. The design incorporates classic Eastern and Western elements typical of the finest examples from this period - a very desirable and rare piece.
This low table has many uses - as a table, a stand or pedestal, entry or hall way feature, an addition to a console or table.
