A pair of Export Chinese white porcelain elephant candle holders or joss stick holders with partial gilt accents. The caparisoned standing elephants are saddled, decorated with hand painted enamels - a flying white crane over green waves and white and yellow clouds over a red setting sun. The bodies are topped by Gu form candle or joss stick holder with Famille Jeune decorated bulbous mid sections, with green plantain leaf borders.
There are no markings. Normal wear to rim of gilt candle holder.
First Quarter of 20th. Century.
A fine and unusual pair of decorative elephants 'candle holders'.
