Highly collectable Meissen Art Deco period clock designed by Paul Helmig (1859-1939).
It is extremely rare to find this clock with no damage or repair.
The white porcelain clock face is hand painted porcelain. Not porcelain over metal but a solid porcelain plaque certainly made by Meissen (maybe signed on verso). The face is clean, with black roman numerals and is surmounted by a joyous courting couple holding hands over the face of the clock. The skilled craftsman has captured the energy of movement beautifully in this piece - as can be seen from the stance of the pair and the young ladies billowing pink lilac apron.
A superb piece of Meissen.
Movement stamped "Lenzkirch" with number "26043".
Markings: Meissen cross swords mark in underglaze blue on the underside together with impressed "147" and incised "W 116".
Age: Circa 1900.
Dimensions: 12 1/2" x 6" x 12 1/2" tall. 10.5 pounds.
Porcelain is excellent with no damage or repair. Clock is untested but all the parts seem to be present and it appears serviceable. No keys.
