Rare Vintage Tibetan bronze singing bowl with Buddhist Characters and a Figure of Buddha in Relief. This is a very fine example of a singing bowl with a unique rich vibration sound when properly played. A Tibetan singing bowl is a type of bell that vibrates and produces a rich, deep tone when played. Also known as a singing bowl or Himalayan bowl. Tibetan singing bowls are said to promote relaxation and offer powerful healing properties. Buddhist monks have long used Tibetan singing bowls in meditation practice. This bowl produces a pure tone at about 450 Hz (a slightly higher pitch than A4).
This is an unusual piece in so much that it is highly decorated throughout and beautifully so. Comes with rosewood stand and a replacement solid wood playing mallet.
No markings other than the Buddhist characters.
Very good condition with only minor surface tarnish.
