This is a very well made Louis XV Bombe with two drawers with finely cast bronze ormolu fittings on the corners and legs. It is topped with a white variegated marble slab which is finished with an ogee edge.
The body depicts a lake scene with pavilions, gardens, trees and people - all hand painted in a traditional Chinese way. Floral end panels.
Solid wood, dovetailed drawers.
Beautiful and versatile chest due to it's size. Petit size (34" wide x 17 1/2" deep).
Use in entry hall, dining room, or bedroom.
True-to-form Louis XV style with hand applied Chinoiserie decoration.
Signed on the back "Made in Spain". The Spanish during this time, were excellent makers of such furniture, their skills surpassing other areas in Europe.
