Vintage Chinese Porcelain Famille Jaune Vases With Foo Dogs & Chimera, a Pair
A set of large opposing Chinese porcelain vases in the Famille Jaune palette. Hand painted in traditional designs including reserve panels on the front and back with scenes depicting a group of gentlemen and ladies making offerings or papying homage to an important dignitary in a landscaped setting/pavillion. The remaining body is painted in an allover design with precious objects and floral bouquets against a yellow glaze. The top rim is painted with a ruyi border and bottom is finished with a geometric border. Whimsical opposing fu/foo dog/lion handles and chimeras on the neck. Pink pomegranate rim decorations.
Signed on the underside with a Jiaqing dynasty seal stamped in red.
Age: Mid-20th century.
Condition is excellent and it's nice to find a pair like this!
