Vintage Chinese Blanc De Chine White Porcelain Figure of Goddess, Guanyin
The goddess of compassion is dressed in long flowing garments and holds symbolic flowers in her hand. She is the Buddhist deity associated with mercy and compassion.
The belief goes that when you want something, you petition Kwan Yin. You take her small white hand and hide it in your house. Kwan Yin being so distressed at losing her hand will grant you your wish. Then when your desire has been granted, retrieve the little hand and replace it.
