Hand-painted Chinese folding screen with epic mountain, waterfall & lake scene portraying two scholars on a plateau area with trees, greeting a colleague approaching in a boat / sampan.
This is a very traditional Shan Soi painting - mountains and water that depict a scene your eyes can follow into the misty distance from the foreground.
Can be used as a standing screen or hung on the wall utilizing the afixed hooks at the top back of each panel.
Signed in upper left with red stamp mark and a series of calligraphic characters in black that describe the scenery.
Condition is good for age. Some discolouration and spotting is seen in places.
Minor wear and tearing to paper between panels.
Mid-20th Century.
35" tall x 69" long x 3/4" thick. Each panel is 17" wide.
