A gougeous composition in colour and form.
A Victorian brides basket from the very sought-after Aesthetic period of design, circa 1890. The art glass bowl has a ruffled rim. Light yellow in the center graduated to a beautiful rose colour at rim. Hand painted with floral decoration. The art glass bowl is fitted to a quadruple silver plate basket mounting, the silver with eclectic decorative motifs typical of the Aesthetic period including scrolls, beadwork, and openwork, & sitting on 4 naturalistic form feet.
Signed by the Adelphi Silver Company, New York.
Circa 1890.
This can be used as originally inteneded, as a centre piece, or a fruit bowl.
Condition is excellent with no damage or repair. Just the right amount of tarnish on the silver to get the perfect patina.
Overall 12 1/2" tall x 13" x 12". The glass bowl is 12" in diameter x 3 1/2" tall.
