Extremely high-end solid rosewood Chinoiserie sofa set comprising of a three-seat sofa and two generously sized armchairs. The upholstery is a stunning combination of colours and the fabric is of extremely high quality.
The sofa is hand carved and can easily seat 3 people. The design is elegant and simple; the back panel featuring birds in cherry blossom branches interspersed with Ming-style scroll design panels as are the side panels in the arms. The armchairs or side chairs are of the same design.
The plush seat cushions are reversible, single welted, gorgeous classical gold leaf forms on the deep rose-colored fabric. The striped fabric on the sofa seat is primarily gold with highlights of deep rose in the stripes - see photos. Nine matching cushions and bolsters are included.
The designer fabrics are superb.
The proportions of the chairs are generous on this set.
The rosewood is in excellent condition and of excellent quality being older and mature unlike the new rosewoods available.
This is a comfortable set and of a good height. The retail price of this set with the upholstery would be close to $10,000.
