Traditional Japanese Imari Porcelain Lamp With Red Rosewood Stand & Designer Shade 40"
Large and elegant cylinder from Japanese Imari vase painted in the Imari palette - nearly 40" tall. An impressive lamp that will not disappoint upon arrival at all - seen in person, this is really nice.
The designs alternate between 'Geishas' in a garden setting over a white ground & gold Japanese 'mons' in the form of chrysanthemums over a red cartouche against an elaborate blue & gold ground. Plantain/palm leaves on the bases' border in blue and gold.
The table or desk lamp rests on a beautifully hand carved red rosewood stand.
The piece is topped with a designer shade with an unusual Chinoiserie filigree finial.
The white shade is signed "Szoke Lamp Shade, Miami, FL" - very small florals/brocade.
Condition is excellent.
Vintage, mid 20th Century.
