A rare pair of antique hand-carved variegated pink marble Shishi or Foo Dogs. These are unusual due to the reticulated marble ball that represents the earth. It is hollowed and styled with great care and held in place by four of the baby Shishi or cubs.
Each statue has six feriouciously dellightful baby shishi. The other two are climbing on the Mothers back. The mother herself ferociously protects her cubs.
Square base topped with a simple Key Fret pattern around the top.
Warm orange/pink beige marble - each over 5lbs in weight.
No markings.
Antique. Early 20th century. Circa 1920-30's.
Condition is excellent.
Each is 8" tall x 3 1/4" x 3 1/4".
This can be used as ornaments or possibly as book ends due to their weight.
Total weight is 10.5 pounds.
