An old Chinese altar table with canted/everted flange ends, decorative floral end panels and further carving on the sides and front areas.
The solid elm top is a natural warm wood colour with good graining whilst the body is a deep deep brick red/black colour - rustic in apprearance. 2 front drawers with circular calligraphy bronze pulls.
The table is handcrafted and structured - a very traditional style of craftsmanship for furniture making in China. Original patina and overall very little wear.
Made from Elm and pine wood, the piece is very solid and has been kept in very good condition. It can support a good weight if required.
Nowadays this can be used as a display table, console and this particular piece because of it's shape/raised front apron could be used as a desk. In the past these long classic Chinese tables were used as altar table to hold portraits, food, incense and flowers offerings to ancestors.
A very useful piece in many areas of the home or office.
