Attractive as well as useful large black lacquer Chinoiserie style umbrella stand, hexagonal in shape that neatly fits into a corner. The sides are decorated with Chinese ladies dressed in their white winter robes in a hand painted gold winter landscape of trees, bamboo fronds, bridges and birds. The soapstone figures are hand carved & hand painted.
The wood stands' removable lining is galvanised metal and in very good condition. The whole rests on six small feet with a traditional Chinese style lower gold border. A generously sized umbrella stand with a difference.
