A pair of magnificent gray Elephants that are hand painted in bright cheerful colours throughout. The massive and heavy beasts are solid teak wood and hand decorated in polychrome paints. The red edged saddles are painted with precious objects and flowers, the blanket is brown with primarily red, green, blue and off white colouring & design typical of the Tibetan/Northern Indian area. The blanket is fringed in bright yellow tassles.  There is a long life character in middle of each saddle.
The head-dress is blue and set with turquoise gemstone embellishments and coral coloured stones.
The elephants are not marked. 
Condition is very good. Expected age effects including wood checking and minor loss to paint.
These can be used as decorator pieces, possibly as a low stool or foot rest.
Early to Mid-20th Century.
