Late 19th. Century Antique Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Vase With Foo Dogs & Chimeras
Antique Chinese Famille Rose porcelain vase with opposing pale pink and light blue foo dog handles and chimeras on shoulder area. Pretty hand decorated floral scalloped neck rim with traces of gilt/gold on the edge.
This vase has interesting hand enamelled scenic panels are located on opposite sides of the main body as well as the neck area. These scenes are iworth looking at and depict scholarly discussions in a formal/court setting. The intervening areas contain a profusion of auspicious objects including flowers, birds, and pomegranates. Pink and blue fret style lower border.
Excellent condition - there are some contained spider cracks on underside likely a result of the original firing. The bottom has been drilled to accommodate wiring for a lamp - if required.
This attractive and classic antique piece was made in the last half 19th century.
