Fine Oriental white porcelain planter with an attractive single gilt bands on and below the rim. Waisted form gently tapering to bottom rim.  Richly enamelled porcelain jardiniere that has two figurative panels or portals lending us a view of traditional scenes of Chinese life as it was - in this case it seems to be a formal courtyard scene with traditionally clad individuals approaching the Nobles.  Two further panels of exotic birds amongst tradtional foilage.
The panels are surrounded by pink and green borders, flowers, butterflies, peaches, lucky coins, scrolls, lucky double gourds and other decorative objects. The rim has a similarly decorated border - all on a gold background and all hand painted.
This is a superior porcelain planter and slightly larger than normal, carefully hand painted as can be seen from the photographs - take a moment to look at the work. The inside area is white with rather nice orange goldfish amongst the green pondweed.
A stamped piece - Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi "Great Qing Qianlong Period Make". This is an example from the 1950/60's.
