An unusually large reclining crowned Buddha on a custom made base or plinth. This antique hand carved wood and gold statue is approximately 80-120 years old and Thai in origin. The hand carved work shows the skills of the Thai workmen. each feature perfectly formed and in harmony.
The flamed crown and robe are particularly in the style of U-Thong. The powder red base is a heavy and separate piece of wood that serves as the resting platform of the 'enlightened one'. This figure would look stunning either in the sunlight or under a spotlight. This piece was purchased in Bangkok, Thailand approximately 35 years ago and a very good weight.
