Mid Century Chinese Rosewood and Green Jade Pheonix Bookends With Auspicious Brass Bats and Butterflies
A pair of very unusual Chinese rosewood bookends with a lot of detailing in both the brass and in jade stone. The two good sized inset oval. jade plaques or madallions are hand carved with a pheonix bird in the centre of each surrounded by blossoms, and held in place by butterflies or moths. There are brass bats in each corner. Both stands rest on a good sized engraved brass foot as per the photographs.
A very. unusual and symbolic set of bookends in very good condition.
Age: 1950-60's.
