Extremely rare and important signed American copper teapot by Francis Sanderson, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Circa 1760s. All original with a very fine early patina. Unusually shaped handle to facilitate pouring from a heavy pot. The wonderful hand joinery is evident at the back and underside as illustrated. A similar Sanderson teapot is the subject of an extensive narrative in a book written by Henry J. Kauffman and he includes Sanderson's advertisement below.
Signed on the top of the handle by Sanderson as shown.
Circa 1760s.
Condition is remarkably good with the only issue being very minor scattered indentations (please examine photos for best assessment).
A highly collectable piece with a lot of history.
