Early 20th Century "Three Scholarly Pursuits" Chinese Scenic Wood Panel Paintings, Framed - Set of 3 Wall Hangings
A set of three interesting late 19th. or early 20th. Century hand painted Chinese wood panels with old original iron hangers. Late Qing Dynasty.
Each panel has a brown and green border with a simple black line outlining the scene.
On the reverse is an old wax seal on each, from the Antiquities Dept. of the PRC denoting these peices are antique, over 100 years old, and permitted for export.
Each panel portrays a different scholarly pursuit or activity - a scholar inside his pavillion happy with his painting skills, three men in a boat at night deep in discussion, and the young man riding a water buffalo - studing hard. Note his wood box is hanging off the horns of the animal.
There is some minor wear to the panels and very minor rubbing to the top of the panel with the man riding the water buffalo. This is hard to see from a distance but we need to point it out.
These panels provide a chiance for us to see life as it was in times gone by in the Kingdom of China.
A rare set of traditional Chinese wall panels / hangings.
