Archaic Chinese Rectangular Bronze Censer (Incense Burner) on Custom Display Stand
Presented upon a heavy carved hardwood stand with 'cut outs' for each foot area, and is capable of bearing the weight of the piece comfortably. Censers were used as incense burners - a sensory accoutrement and source of inspiration for the Chinese scholar’s artistic and literary pursuits.
The censor is made in an archaistic style but we feel it is a 20th century example. It measures 12" x 10" across the top and is extremely heavy weighing in at about 14lbs. or just over 6kg. H6" on stand.
A piece that certainly looks the part.
