Antique Queen Anne Period Walnut Footstool, Black Needlepoint Tapestry & Flowers, 18th.Century

Save 4%

Period Queen Anne needlepoint footstool with floral upholstered top. 18th. Century.
The rectangular footstool sits on four cabriole legs with pad feet, decorated with nicely carved bellflowers and shells on the knees. Queen Anne furnishings typically bear some form of an “S-curve” element, from the gentle curve of the characteristic cabriole legs such as this stool.
The seat/cover has probably been replaced with the hand made needlepoint tapestry at a later date.
Not many Queen Anne pieces original to the 18th century feature their original fabrics - this example does not as mentioned.  Black for the main part, yellow, pink, of white and grey. Hand hammered nailheads on side and edges and dust cover.
The stool is in good condition, the wear commensurate with age and use, the wood with a rich warm brown shade. The construction is old - original glue blocks - see underside.
Can be used in the living room or bedroom in front of a chair for extra comfort and support for your feet at the end of the day.

L15", D14", H11".

General wear as can be seen in the photographs.  One foot, old repair & loss.  Dust cover loose in places.
