Antique Chinese Rustic Wooden Painted Basket (pail/box) in an attractive tapering hexagonal form supported by a red plinth base. At top is a tall handle with angled supports. The body is hand painted with beautiful polychromed butterflies, floral and fruit designs with raised outlines against a mustard yellow background.
No markings.
Condition is very good for age. Just the right amount of surface wear and paint loss for that perfect "distressed" look. A lovely Chinese 'Countryside style piece.
Age: 1930-1950's.
This can be used for floral displays - ikebana or otherwise, as an ornament or for storing items.
