Antique Chinese Jade Mythical Sleeping Dragon (Chilong) Scroll Weight, Qing Dynasty, Inscribed
Beautifully carved early Qing Dynasty Chinese Scolars jade scroll weight carved in high relief with a Chilong 'dragon recumbent in the centre of the piece. Simple traditional decoration on either end in the form of a dragon face, archaic inscription on verso. Incised cuts on edges and very smooth to the touch.. Russet inclusions. Used originally for keeping scrolls/letters in place.
Soft sheen on the jade, pale green and mustard/amber highlights - fine detailing on the sleeping dragon (referred to as a homeless dragon).
This homeless little dragon is now looking for a new home.
A rare and unusual find.
