Very desirable folding Anglo Indian wall shelf with exquisite and quite meticulous hand carved openwork design. A beautiful example of Indian craftsmanship!
Shaped panels at top and bottom (along with the vertical frame supports) are inlaid with copper and brass with a beautiful traditional design. When the shelves unfold the bottom one is supported by small hinged corbels whereas the top shelf is supported by the detachable turned columns.
Can be used for books, candles (with care) or ornaments - in a variety of places in the home.
This shelf would have taken a skilled artisan a long, ong time to make. Made of Shesham wood or Indian Mahogany.
No markings.
Very good condition with expected minor surface imperfections.
