Extremely fine American Empire Figured Mahogany Games Table with Hairy Paw Feet, c 1825
Solid, single board tops, figured mahogany skirt with drop acorn finials at corners, 4 finely turned column legs ending at a shaped platform base with 4 hairy paw lions feet & brass casters. The level of craftsmanship on the legs and hairy paw feet is splendid - see photos.. The mahogany gleams and is in very good condition.
This is a very versatile piece. Makes a striking console table for entry way or can be placed in that special spot in the homes interior. The rectangular top swivels to reveal a secret compartment, then flips to form a square game table.
No makers mark. Circa 1825.
Condition is very good with minor signs of age and use.
