Mid 20th Century Straits Chinese (Nyonya/Peranakan) Purple Kamcheng Ginger Storage Jar - Everlasting Spring
Colourful Mid 20th. Century Chinese export ginger jar topped with a green foo lion as the finial. Primarily a maroon/purple porcelain body hand painted with bright enamels throughout typical of the Straits Chinese/Nyonya style.
Green foliage and a profusion of pink and yellow flowers decorate the piece along with black birds. Small pink stylised animal side handles.
A matching decorative ribbon could be threaded through the handles for extra decorative effect. Originally this would have had metal hoop handles.
Signed in red on the underside - translates as 'Everlasting Spring' (always young and happy). Made: Mid 20th. Century in China for the Straits Export market - Peranakan Nyonya Jar - Straits Chinese Singapore.
