Japanese Satsuma Opposing Pair of Cabinet Plates Portraying the Seven Gods of Good Fortune by Hododa Meiji Period.
Very fine opposing pair of Satsuma cabinet plates with scalloped rims. Meticulously hand painted/gilt scene portraying the 7 Gods of good fortune with a striking white scaled dragon winding its way among the Gods, a foreground of waves, a backdrop of mountains - all stylised.
Signed on the undersides with hallmark by Hododa.
Very good condition with some glaze discoloration on the undersides.
Circa 1880.
